About the event
Water quality has been a defining environmental issue of recent years. While action has been taken by the UK government through its Storm Overflow Discharge Reduction Plan and Plan for Water to improve water quality across England, there is still a long way to go to fully restore our waterways and the positive impact of this action will not be felt overnight.
In the meantime, there are opportunities for councillors and local leaders to establish their own projects and campaigns to improve water quality in their communities, from greening urban areas and reducing chemicals, to partnering with water companies to fight fatbergs and install water butts.
Join us to learn about what steps the government has already taken at the national level and to discover ideas for what you can do locally to improve water quality.
Our panellists will include:
- CEN MP Philip Dunne, Chairman of the Environmental Audit Committee
- CEN Cllr Jane MacBean, Buckinghamshire Council
- Nick Mole, Pesticide Action Network
- Mark Holmes, Water UK
