About the event
The UK has the least energy efficient housing in western Europe. Without doubt we need to improve the efficiency of our existing housing stock and build new homes to a higher standard.
But how should these necessary upgrades be delivered and paid for? The Conservatives have introduced some targeted grants and tax incentives. Contrastingly, Labour have proposed a National Warm Homes Plan which involves significant public investment.
How can the Conservatives further incentivise energy efficiency measures to permanently lower people’s bills and cut waste in line with free market principles? How can we encourage more homeowners to upgrade? What can we do to ensure more renters and landlords realise the benefits of increased energy efficiency? How can we make sure developers are building efficient, sustainable homes without making them unaffordable?
Join us to discuss this and hear about CEN’s current campaigns to help ensure Britain builds more sustainably.
Our panellists will include CEN MP Derek Thomas and Bartek Staniszewski, Senior Researcher at Bright Blue.
