Campaign win: CEN welcomes government's plans for a Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism in 2027

Sam Hall, Conservative Environment Network’s Director, commented:

"Today's confirmation of a carbon border adjustment mechanism is welcome news. The new CBAM will create a level playing field on carbon pricing for a number of UK industries and help them compete fairly with higher carbon imports. It will reduce the need for subsidy and prevent offshoring, enabling a greater use of market-friendly climate policy tools like carbon pricing to help us reach net zero and grow our green industries."
