Epping Forest District Council: Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund

  • Location: Epping Forest District Council 

  • Purpose: The council successfully applied for funding from the government’s Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund in order to improve the energy efficiency of  100 selected council homes in Epping Forest. The purpose is to improve the energy efficiency of homes to lower bills and alleviate the problem of fuel poverty. The scheme also helps to decarbonise homes. 

  • Description: The fund provides free installation of external wall insulation in 100 selected council homes through a partnership with E.ON. Eligible homes were contacted and asked if they wanted to participate in the scheme, E.ON then conducted a suitability survey on the home. 

  • Funding: The council won the funding to provide this scheme from the government’s Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund.
