Hampshire County Council: Schools energy efficiency carbon reduction programme

Location: Hampshire

Purpose: Hampshire County Council declared a climate emergency in 2019 and committed to net zero by 2050. The council is also looking to make financial savings by reducing energy bills through insulation and clean energy, which is cheaper than fossil fuels.

Description: The carbon saving scheme will see over 200 schools retrofitted with double glazing, insulation, solar panels, and heating control upgrades across 2022. Each school will see at least one retrofit project.

Funding: £29.3 million from the Public Sector Decarbonisation Scheme
