Lancashire County Council: Local Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plan (LCWIP) engagement

  • Location: Blackpool

  • Purpose: Following the publication of the Department for Transport’s (DfT) Cycling and Walking Strategy and the technical guidance for local authorities, the county council in partnership with Blackpool Council carried out a six week engagement exercise with residents. The results from the consultation supported the development of the strategy with the aim to improve quality of life and offer residents genuine choice in how to get around.

  • Description: The questionnaire looked to ascertain residents' existing travel patterns, access to a private vehicle, public perception of existing active travel infrastructure and requests for improvements. Residents were able to pinpoint on a map a particular concern to be fed into the strategy.

  • Conservative councillor/ council lead: Cabinet Member for Highways and Transport, Cllr Charles Edwards
