Tata gigafactory a good start, but UK still has more to do to build a green economy, say experts

Lynsey Jones, a spokesperson for the Conservative Environment Network (CEN), a caucus of green-minded Tory MPs, told i: “Tata’s £4bn investment in a new electric car battery factory in Somerset shows that our green economy continues to grow, despite tough international competition. But we must still devise a comprehensive response to the USA’s Inflation Reduction Act to stay competitive and lead the green industrial revolution.”

Ms Jones of CEN called on the Government to reaffirm the coming ban. “To encourage more investment and help level up the country, the government must confirm its zero-emission vehicle mandate to show manufacturers that Britain’s serious about phasing out new fossil-fuel cars,” she said.
