Thurrock Council: Warmth Grant

  • Location: Thurrock Council 

  • Purpose: The council aims to improve the energy efficiency of their residents' homes through offering grants for energy efficiency upgrades. The scheme launched during the cost of living crisis aimed to lower energy bills and reduce fuel poverty among residents. 

  • Description: The council is working in partnership with Warmworks to deliver this scheme. For a household to be eligible, they must have an income below £30,000 per annum or an Energy Performance Certificate rated E, F or G. Funding is available for measures such as insulation, solar panels, and low-carbon heating systems. Up to £10,000 is available to homes on mains gas and £25,000 for those not. 

  • Funding: Funding came from the central government via grant for allocation.

  • Conservative councillor/ council lead: Previously Cllr Luke Spillman, Cabinet Member for Housing, now Cllr Victoria Holloway, Cabinet Member for Place and the Environment.
